Different Sleep is the production moniker of 21 year-old, Southern California-native Rafa Alvarez. After being introduced to a genres and instruments early on, Rafa gravitated towards the growing LA beat-scene that was blossoming just 100 miles north of home, inspired by local labels such as Friends of Friends.

Blending elements of hip-hop, r&b, trance and juke Different Sleep is turning heads all over the Internet with his steady stream of new tracks and remixes. Different Sleep has received critical acclaim from online publications such as XLR8R, The Fader, and Pitchfork as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1 via acts as diverse as Ryan Hemsworth and Flosstradamus, and has contributed remixes to labels such as OWSLA, Symbols, and West In Dust.
